First Trip to the Panhandle

WOW!!!! We had a blast this weekend.
Let me start by saying...Karen I did not read your blog before posting this one...it is 1:00am, and I want to read it but I am posting first!!
As I stated in my previous Blog it was spur of the moment! And worth every moment of it. We headed out about 8:00am Saturday morn. It is a 6 hr (+/-) drive to Amarillo, pending you don't have to make potty breaks and drink breaks...Oh yeah then the issues with the truck...but that is another blog all together. We were hoping to be in my 2:00(ish) we made it at 3:10, and met some friends at the Big Texas Steakhouse...This is one of those places that if you eat a 72 oz steak with all the sides in one hour it is free....Do these people realize this is 4 1/2 POUNDS of red meat...ok the gag reflex is kicking in.

So we get to the restuarant...it is a neat tourist attraction. If you ever go to Amarillo you will see it...We took some pics and waited for Karen & Clay to show up. I have know Clay for 20 yrs, and met Karen here...But we had never met in person. So as we are taking pictures I see them from afar, we meet up and then inside to eat. There was a guy there taking the 72 oz challange...GAG GAG!!!! He had about 4 minutes left and it was obvious he gave up. When the timer went off, the waiter weights what was left, he had eaten 68 oz...you know at that point what is 4 more ounces??

So after dinner and everyone getting 'to know' everyone we checked in to the hotel, then went to Cadillac Ranch...it was neat. Logan is really in to Route 66 since the movie Cars...incase you dont know it .... in the town Radiator Springs all the buildings are replicaed after building along the Original Mother Road. It was really neat. There was lots of mud, I guess it never rains in Amarillo until we decided to visit. We did not spray paint the cars, but we got some pictures and video. So after we left there we went to Clay & Karen's house...on the OTHER SIDE OF TOWN!!!
This was an adventure....Has anyone met my son???? Have you also heard of the expression 'A Bull in a China Shop'??? We visited for 2 hrs, and I think said his name more in 2 hrs than I have in the last 18 months!!!! Not that he was 'bad' but he was busy...it was 6:30 pm, and he had been in the car most of the day...Oh for those of you who dont know him.. He has never met a stranger, will talk your ear off...and WILL make himself at home in your house. WAIT....They have 2 cats, One really smart...it went and hid...the other not so much...Charlie wanted in investigate the little human..Logan does not understand Cats, so he had no idea why Charlie would not come to him the FIFTY MILLION TIMES HE WAS CALLED. So we made lunch plans for Sunday, and off we went. After some outside time were Logan tried to terriorize Clay. Did it work?

We ended the night with a swim in the hot tub, and the pool, and a bloody nose...Not good. It was about 10:30 when we all crashed, and I was up at 7:15 this morning.

To the Sushi & Habiachi place. I have no one to eat Sushi with so this was a treat for me. I dont know what all was ordered but it was great....I bearly had room for my habachi. At dinner Logan did more terriorizing and entertaining...

Off to Palo Dura Canyon...Now Karen & Clay have lived in Amarillo for 5 yrs...they had never been. So they came with us...it was great. But due to the weather they were evacuating the campers due to flooding. (Side Note - the Grand Canyon is Flooding too). We had accomplished what we went for. We followed them to a gas station, fueled up, got drink and snacks. Off we go...
Here it is....1:00am we are home...fixing to go to bed. I just had to blog before i read Karens....the question did she change the names to protect the innocent...she said she did not buy I am courious!

I also want to thank them for a wonderful weekend and being so much fun and welcoming!! Cant wait to do it again!!!!
